Build, Buy or Restore Abroad

British couples keen to up-sticks and build, buy or restore a property abroad are being asked to take part in one of TV’s fastest-growing property shows.

Michael Holmes, presenter of Discovery Real Time’s Build, Buy or Restore describes the forthcoming series of his highly-successful show as a “perfect opportunity for cash-strapped Brits fed up with UK property prices to find out what their money can buy them in other European countries.

“It’s amazing just how far your money will stretch in certain parts of France, Spain and Portugal,” said Holmes who is also Editor-in-Chief of leading property magazine Homebuilding and Renovating. “With freedom of movement withinc the EU and distance-working becoming a real option more and more people are heading for continental Europe in search of their dream home.”

The second series of Holmes’ show is due to launch on Discovery Real Time in October but production is about to begin on series three which will be based entirely abroad.

“Series Two is a real insight into the current property market in the UK,” Holmes said. “There was a time when building or restoring a house in the UK meant a guaranteed profit every time. But these days you really have to know what you’re doing and half the fun for me is helping people to get it right.”

However, Holmes sees the opportunities abroad as wide open. And, he insists, you don’t have to travel that far. “All the recent publicity has been about opportunities in Eastern Europe. But parts of Western Europe still offer fantastic value for money and I’m really looking forward to finding some exciting properties at really affordable prices.”
